David A. Gross MD, DLFAPA

David A. Gross, MD, a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, is a board certified psychiatrist with almost 40 years of clinical practice experience. He holds the honor of being recognized as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly for 30 consecutive years, including his most recent recognition in 2024. Dr. Gross’ career has been devoted to demystifying and destigmatizing the field of psychiatry, calling his approach ‘medical psychiatry.’ “My patients can only begin to recover when they are able to fully understand and accept the nature of their illness.” He explains. Taking a holistic approach, Dr. Gross combines traditional psychiatric treatment with that of alternative medicine. He has spearheaded the development of laser acupuncture protocols for addressing the symptoms of anxiety, panic, post traumatic stress disorders while incorporating state of the art pharmacologic therapies.

Dr. Gross remains in private practice in Delray Beach, Florida. He is active in the Florida Psychiatric Society after serving as their president. He has been married for over 40 years and is the father of two grown children.

Background

Dr. Gross began his interest in the neurosciences at the University of Rochester where he received a degree in psychology graduating magna cum laude after successfully pursuing brain research studies. He continued his research interests in medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine graduating with honors. It was in medical school that he developed an interest in psychiatry, a discipline that allowed for the integration of neuroscientific advances into the study of human behavior. He pursued post graduate psychiatric training at Yale University where he was Chief Resident twice and remained on the faculty during the early years of his career.
