Dr. Alexandra Licata is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in the psychological assessment of children and adolescents. She provides complete comprehensive psychological, neuropsychological, psychoeducational, developmental, and gifted evaluations to individuals who are experiencing cognitive, behavioral, social, emotional, or academic difficulties. She is extensively trained in the administration and interpretation of various psychological tests and assessments that provide valuable insights to an individual’s condition or specific cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Dr. Licata also works together with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to help inform interventions and treatment strategies that target a client’s specific needs.

Dr. Licata is a lifelong learner who is passionate about helping clients discover and implement various management and coping skills. She takes a pluralistic approach to treatment, preferring to work closely with her clients to ascertain which methods and theories work best for each individual. She employs an empathic, directive approach and places high importance on a solid therapeutic connection built on trust. She is focused on providing compassionate, accepting, and tailored psychological support. Throughout her doctoral training, Dr. Licata has worked with individuals presenting with a variety of concerns including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, developmental disorders, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, substance-related disorders and other social-emotional and behavioral challenges.

Dr. Licata graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned her master’s degree in Applied Psychology at Lynn University. She earned her second master’s degree and her doctoral degree in School Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the South Florida Consortium Internship Program at Palm Beach County School District. During her doctoral training, Dr. Licata received training in various settings including the Baudhuin Preschool for Autism, the School-related Psychological Assessments and Clinical Interventions clinic at Nova Southeastern University, an adult intensive outpatient recovery center at Principles Recovery Center in South Florida as well as local public and private schools, and other community mental health settings. She has presented at regional and national conferences on incorporating positive psychology within a school-based intervention for children with anxiety and depression, and music therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder.
